Presenter: Robin Zevotek, UL Firefighter Safety Research Institute
We are pleased to announce Robin Zevotek as the presenter for our February meeting. Robin Zevotek is a Research Engineer with the Underwriters Laboratories (UL) Firefighter Safety Research Institute. He has 13 years in the fire service throughout the east coast, most recently serving as Captain with the Moyers Corners Fire Department in Liverpool, NY. He has a Bachelor’s and is completing his Master’s both in fire protection engineering from the University of Maryland. In addition, he is a licensed fire protection engineer with several years of design experience.
The fire environment has changed dramatically over the last few decades. Larger homes, open spaces, evolving fuel loads, void spaces, changing building material and new technologies have compounded in defining what is today’s modern residential fire environment. Organizations such as UL and NIST are conducting research to understand how these things impact today’s fire service.
