   Highlights of Fire Science 
and Fire Investigation

 

Presenter:  Scott Dillon,  Manager of Fire Science, Crane Engineering

 

We are pleased to announce Scott Dillon as the presenter for our May meeting. Scott is a fire protection engineer and the manager of the Fire Science group at Crane Engineering located in Plymouth, MN. He is a licensed professional engineer with more than 16 years of experience in the areas of fire and explosion investigation, fire protection engineering, and fire science. Scott provides clients with expert consultation regarding fire protection and alarm systems, life safety, fire dynamics, fire testing, as well as compliance with codes and standards. Scott has extensive experience performing investigations of fires and fire suppression system failures.

 

This presentation will cover the anatomy of a typical fire investigation conducted for the purposes of potential civil litigation. An overview will be provided of what steps typically take place from the time of the fire, through the investigation process, and up to trial. There will be some emphasis on the roles and responsibilities of the fire suppression system designer, manufacturer, installer, and ITM contractors as they relate to the investigation.
