 JCI: Electronically Actuated Sprinklers 

 

 

Presenters: Mark Fessenden and Kody Karch

 

 

The March MNSFPE Meeting will feature a presentation by Mark and Kody from Johnson Controls Inc. on their electronically actuated sprinklers and other new fire protection technologies.

 

Mark Fessenden, Director, Industry Relations: For over 25 years Mark has been involved with the manufacturing of active fire protection systems. His experience includes water-based systems (automatic sprinkler, water spray fixed systems, and watermist) and special hazard systems (clean agent, CO2, wet chemical, dry chemical, and foam). His focus has been in the development of the new technologies, codes & standards, technical services, and training. He holds three U.S. patents in automatic sprinkler and fire alarm technology. Mark is a member of numerous NFPA Technical Committees and serves as Chairman of the SFPE Committee on Professional Development (CPD). He is also Vice President of the Wisconsin Chapter of SFPE. He serves on the Board of Director for both the NFSA and IFSA. Mark was the 2017 recipient of the NFPA Industrial Fire Protection Section Fire Prevention Award. Mark has B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology from New England Institute of Technology and an MBA from Corban University.


Kody Karch, Business Development Manager, Fire Suppression Products: Kody has been involved in the fire protection industry for 16 years.  His experience includes various roles in the industry including; Sprinkler Fitter, Fire Sprinkler Designer, Service Manager, Sales, Sprinkler Division Manager, Manufacturers Representative with Tyco/JCI. He most recently took a role in Business Development for the Midwestern United States.  His role serves as a technical liaison and trainer to architects, consulting engineers, risk providers, AHJs, and end users.
