 Transition from AFFF to SFFF

Presenter: Josh Overholt

During this presentation Josh will provide an overview of the low expansion AFFF foam system transition to the new SFFF. He’ll discuss the specifics of the associated components as well as the application of potentially higher densities.

Joshua Overholt is a multi-certified fire protection professional employed by Viking Corporation as the Product Manager for special hazards systems. With over 27 years in the fire protection industry, beginning as a 2nd generation volunteer firefighter, Joshua transitioned his passion for the fire service into a career promoting through the ranks to Chief of Fire & Emergency Services. As Chief, Joshua oversaw daily fire department operations, conducted fire origin and cause investigations, performed fire protection system plan reviews, and supervised commissioning of new fire protection systems. Joshua earned his master’s degree in Emergency Services Management from Columbia Southern University and holds an undergraduate degree in Fire Science. Joshua is also currently employed as a Firefighter/EMT tasked with Fire Inspector/Investigator duties with the Caledonia Fire Department. He is a member of the Michigan Fire Inspectors Society (MFIS), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA-CFPS), and the International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI-CFI). Joshua also holds a variety of inspector certifications through International Code Council (ICC).

We will be hosting our meeting at the Park Tavern once again for this meeting. The officers are currently working on reaching out to different locations to maybe try some other places in the upcoming meetings so stay tuned. For this meeting Josh will be presenting via video call, but Pat Machart (local Viking Territory Manager) will be in attendance in person to network with us during the social hour. Please try and get registered by no later than Wednesday, October 12th, so we will have an accurate headcount for the Park Tavern folks.

Membership is not mandatory for this program, but always encouraged.  See you there!
