 JCI: Parking Garage Sprinklers

Presenters: Mark Fessenden (Melisa Rodriguez)

UPDATE:  Unfortunately, Mark is unable to present at this event as he has conflicts with other work travel. In his place, Melisa is going to go over his materials and will do her best to provide her best impression of Mark Fessenden. Melisa and Mark work closely together at Johnson Controls where Melisa has a new role as the Vertical Business Development Leader - Storage.

The November MN SFPE Meeting will feature a presentation by Mark from Johnson Controls Inc. This presentation will review the changes that are coming through NFPA standards and would require sprinkler protection of all parking garages. It will also review other changes in parking garages like the higher amount of Electric Vehicles on the roads and car stackers being utilized more to have a higher density of vehicles in a smaller space.

Mark Fessenden, Director, Industry Relations: For over 25 years Mark has been involved with the manufacturing of active fire protection systems. His experience includes water-based systems (automatic sprinkler, water spray fixed systems, and watermist) and special hazard systems (clean agent, CO2, wet chemical, dry chemical, and foam). His focus has been in the development of the new technologies, codes & standards, technical services, and training. He holds three U.S. patents in automatic sprinkler and fire alarm technology. Mark is a member of numerous NFPA Technical Committees and serves as Chairman of the SFPE Committee on Professional Development (CPD). He is also Vice President of the Wisconsin Chapter of SFPE. He serves on the Board of Director for both the NFSA and IFSA. Mark was the 2017 recipient of the NFPA Industrial Fire Protection Section Fire Prevention Award. Mark has B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology from New England Institute of Technology and an MBA from Corban University.
